Our People and their roles

 

The Management Team is led by the Managing Director/CEO as detailed below:
 

Dr. Lucy Surhyel Newman – Managing Director/CEO

Dr. Newman presents a hybrid of development finance, private sector banking, consulting and academic orientation leveraged on a results-focused paradigm with proven success in aligning strategy, structure, people, policies and systems to optimize individual and organizational performance. She has twenty-two (22) years of industry and consulting experience. Nine years out of her working experience were acquired from four banks in Nigeria [Owena/Omegabank, FSB International Bank Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc & United Bank for Africa Plc] over the period 1997 – 2006 in areas including business development, human resources management, product development,  strategy and post merger integration. Her work since August 2006 was in business advisory and performance improvement consulting with the firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria. She left PwC Nigeria to join FITC as the Managing Director/CEO in May, 2009.

Dr. Newman is a creative person and a dynamic leader with comprehensive experience demonstrating a broad-based public and private sector background in areas including Strategic Planning, Program/Project Leadership, Research, Organizational Leadership Development, Business Development, Negotiations & Alliance Structuring, Start-ups and Corporate Turnarounds. She has a doctorate degree in Business Administration (Leadership and Performance) from the University of Phoenix, Arizona USA, an MBA [International Business] and a B.Sc. in Business Administration [Financial Management], from the Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria. She is a Graduate of the Centre for Creative Leadership Colorado Springs USA’s Leadership Development Program for HR Professionals, an associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN), a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) USA and a member of the Product Development & Management Association (PDMA), USA. She is also a member and a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) of the International Society of Performance Improvement (ISPI) USA, a Certified Practitioner of the Thomas International Psychometric Assessment System and a professional member of the Development Executive Group of Washington DC, USA.

Dr Newman is a facilitator to many high profile domestic and international seminars/workshop. She has published two books that are available in two global online order databases. Her research work focus on CEO related issues of governance, compensation, performance and leadership.

 
FITC people with primary external client facing responsibilities include:

Mr. Tunji Ajiboye – Head, FITC Training

Mr Ajiboye joined FITC in 2000 and has over fifteen (15) years experience in human capacity building, training needs identification, development and customisation of training curriculum, project planning, implementation and monitoring compliance to budget. He has a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and a Masters degree in Economics, both obtained from the University of Ibadan. He is one of FITC’s in house facilitators and has responsibility for the conceptualisation, delivery and post delivery monitoring of FITC’s training interventions. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

 

Mrs. Abimbola Jimi-Adebakin – Head, FITC Consulting

Mrs Jimi-Adebakin joined FITC in 2007 and has over (13) thirteen years experience in organizational design and reforms, compensation and talent management, policy development, human capacity development as well as business development , process definition, learning management and programme delivery. She studied pharmacy and business administration at undergraduate and post graduate levels respectively. She has been involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility programmes (CSR).

Mrs Jimi-Adebakin was a Consultant in the Human Performance team of Accenture where she undertook several aspects of change management, compensation design and recruitment projects.  She has also worked on consortium formation, strategic plan development and implementation, as well as ePayments and project management.

 

Mr. Sunday Adenipekun– Head, FITC Research                                                  

Mr Adenipekun joined FITC in 2004 and has over nineteen years experience in macroeconomic analysis, business history generation, growth interpretation and derivation of various research indices. He has served on the team of researchers that conducted FITC’s industry wide studies leading to the production of customer choice of Banks in Nigeria. Sunday holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, MA in Economic History and B.Sc. in International (Economic) Relations. He is also a member of Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM).

Mr Adenipekun is also versed in corporate planning and branding. His training and experience spans over fifteen years of managing customer care programmes in a bank, consulting, teaching and research in the academics. His team also handles the internal Quality Assurance System for Training programmes and related quality issues for FITC. His works as a researcher include:  

  1. A study on “The Impact of the Structural Adjustment Programme on the Merchant organisations in Nigeria”,
  2. Study on Gender issues in the Banking Sector
  3. The designing and execution of management training for an engineering firm
  4. Leading a team of consultants to undertake the recovery of organisations’ excess charges on COT and Overdrafts for the Jigawa and Katsina State Governments.
 
FITC people with primarily responsibilities for Internal Client Service Roles:
 

Mr. Joshua Olusegun Makinde – Head, Finance & Accounts

Mr Makinde joined the finance of the centre in 1997. He has over twenty years experience in Basic Accounting, Budgeting & Budgetary Control and Time Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation.

 

Mr. Isaac Abayomi Olomolaiye – Head, Admin & HR

Mr Olomolaiye joined FITC in 2006. He has over twenty-two years experience in Policy formulation and Implementation, Management and Resolution of Conflicts, Design of organisational systems, structures and operation manuals in the public and private sectors. He has a B.Sc and a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan. He is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (ACIPM), Associate member of Chartered Institute of Management Nigeria (ACIMN) and Member International Institute of Ombudsman (MIOI).

Mr. Benjamin Olajide Alao – Head, Management Information System

Mr. Alao joined FITC in 1999. He has over sixteen (16) years of experience that cuts across System Analysis and Programming, Database Management, IS policy formulation and implementation, IT security design and implementation, IT consulting and project management. Mr. Alao graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1991 with B.Sc in Computer Science. He is also certified as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Certified Consultant of Personal Awareness Systems. Prior to his joining FITC, he had worked as a Programmer and Systems Analyst for more than seven years under various establishments including software development and telecommunications firms. He recently served as Head of ICT department of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC where he played vital roles in the implementation of several enterprise business solutions. Mr. Alao is a member of the Computer Professional (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN) and Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).

 

Mr. Wilson Segun Adeyemo – Internal Audit & Compliance                    

Mr Adeyemo joined FITC in 1985. Prior to his appointment as internal Auditor, he has worked in finance and training department of the centre. Segun is an Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He is also an honorary member of Committee of Chief Inspectors of Nigeria.

 

Mr Alaba EkundayoSpecial Assistant to MD & Coordinator Special Projects

Mr Ekundayo joined FITC in 2007.  He has over eighteen years experience in audit and consultancy, credit and marketing, investment analysis, turn-around strategy formulation and implementation, enterprise management, SME administration, economic research and macroeconomic studies. He has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Economics from University of Ibadan and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Lagos.

 

Mr. Henry Amadi – Head, Design Studio & Productions

Mr Amadi joined FITC in 2009 and has over fifteen (15) years experience from Advertising agencies including Insight Grey, HKLM, Mediaplus Limited, Multi-Media Communication and STB Mc CANN. He works from concept to finish in the following areas: re-branding, re-engineering, internalisation and implementation of the brand manual. One of the major projects which he was part of is the Eko Hotel re-branding. He has also designed and produced annual report and accounts for many banks. He has HND in Graphic Design.
