Risk Management in Banks
At the Bankers’ Committee meeting of 21st of February, 2006, Risk Management was identified as one key area of training intervention where the Central Bank of Nigeria could help support the efforts of the banks, sequel to the consolidation in the sector. Subsequently, FITC Training was appointed by the CBN to handle the assignment.
The programme, which was conducted in ten runs, with two classes running simultaneously, took place at the Protea Hotel, Oakwood Park, Lekki Expressway, Lekki, Lagos. The programme which, ran seamlessly for ten weeks and featured five international experts on risk management, working alongside their Nigerian counterparts. A total of two Hundred and seventy two (272) participants attended the programme.
The break down showed that two hundred and twenty four (224) participants were from banks, nine (9) from discount houses, three from (3) from NEXIM Bank , nine (9) from NDIC, three (3) from NFIU/EFCC and twenty four (24) were from the CBN.
Mastering Bonds Trading
Given the increasing impetus on bond trading in Nigeria, FITC Training designed this programme to address the skill gap identified in the area of long-term financing.
This programme, which was held in collaboration with the Options Professor Inc, took place at the Bolger Centre, Potomac, Washington DC, Maryland, USA from 27th – 31st of August, 2007. Professor Izzy H. Nelken, of the Chicago school of mathematics, and a world renowned expert in bond and derivative trading was the lead discussant.
A side attraction built into the programme took the participants on the tour of Washington DC environs, and a visit to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), on the last day of the programme. Other places visited included the White House and other monumental locations.
