Background
For the financial services sector to serve as engine of growth thereby moving the domestic economy to the next level, the board of the various institutions in the sector must provide proactive, dynamic and purposeful leadership. Board members have accepted the responsibility for directing the affairs of the financial institutions and this requires skill, goodwill, patience and commitment. It is, therefore, imperative for directors to continuously seek to educate themselves, if they are to perform their onerous responsibilities effectively.
It is against foreground that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) decided to partner with FITC in organizing the 2010 Continuous Education Programme for banks and financial institutions in Nigeria.
Target participants
Chairmen, Managing Directors, Executives and Non-Executive Directors of Banks and other financial Institutions in Nigeria.
Course objectives
The programme is expected to help participants:
Increase their understanding of their roles and responsibilities with the acceptable governance expectations.
Deepen understanding of what is expected of the them as directors and know how their performance usually robs off on the overall performance of their respective organisations.
Learn new techniques of providing value-based and purpose-driven leadership in directing the affair of their institutions.
Re-examine their role as directors in a financial institution, with a view to performing their oversight function efficiently and effectively.
